vintage brocade embroidered silk obi For Sale

Vintage brocade embroidered silk obi, this was brought over with my grandma from Japan in 1910. The orange or saffron is the color of Buddhist monks robe and it symbolizes renunciation, simplicity, and the burning away of worldly desires, acting as a sign of humility and equality above the monastic community. The gold brocade symbolizes spiritual purity, enlightenment, and eternity. Branford fold does not rust of varnish, it historically represents the Immortal and divine in Japan. Chrysanthemum is the Royal Emperor of Japan’s flower. Obi is 130” long. This can be used as an Obi, a wall hanging or a table runner.
