On offer here is a FANTASTIC, RARE & EARLY ARKANSAS TERRITORY LAND GRANT PATENT SIGNED BY US LAND OFFICE COMMISSIONER JOSIAH MEIGS GRANTING A LAND PATENT TO THE FIRST SURVEYOR OF ARKANSAS JOSEPH BROWN.
This is among the earliest of land grants for Arkansas extant and currently the earliest offered in commerce in recent memory.
The document measures 7.75 in x 12.5 in and is in excellent condition. The bifolio document also has a free frank for Meigs addressing the document to Brown in Washington (Mason County), Kentucky on April 12, 1821.
