1890’s to 1900’s Monte Cross cabinet card. Published by Sommer of Philadelphia. Sommer was a known publisher of baseball and boxing cards. Cross had a long MLB career. Most of it was spent in Philadelphia. Cross played shortstop. From accounts it sounds like he had good range, but a weak arm. Cross jumped from the Phillies to the Philadelphia A’s after the start of the American League. After his MLB days Cross coached the Maine Bears. Card is a little under 5 by 7 inch in size.
