Very rare original USQRMR supply crate dated October 1918 on the side of the box. Looks like it originated in Wisconsin and may have traveled to Concord NH before being shipped to Boston. Still has both the original shipping stamps on it; A blue one for 5 cents and the other a blue one for 20 cents with the words ‘Boston Mass’ on it.
On one side the graphics and lettering are a bit faded but still clearly visible and legible. One side is slightly more faded than the other and some of the letters aren’t easy to make out. Both ends have the following words on them:
24 8 oz cans string beans
Standard cut 1918
From Wisconsin canning Co
Winneconne. Wis.
On one of the longer sides there is the following:
POSTMASTER
CONCORD N.H.
P.O.O. 833
Box is still in excellent shape without signs of mold and has only minor water stains on the very bottom. All nails are secure and intact although slightly rusty. There is one broken slat on the very bottom of one of the longer sides but judging by the color of the wood it’s likely been broken since the box was made. Inside of the box has some dirt on it as well but nothing bad.
