A MAN WHO SMOKED 40 CIGARETTES A DAY = DIED OF LUNG CANCER.
John Robert"Joe"CockerOBE(20 May 1944 – 22 December 2014) was an English singer known for his gritty, bluesy voice and dynamic stage performances that featured expressive body movements. Most of his best-known singles, such as "Feelin' Alright?" and "Unchain My Heart", were recordings of songs written by other songwriters, though he composed several songs for most of his albums as well, often in conjunction with songwriting partnerChris Stainton.

Hisfirst albumfeatured a recording ofthe Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends", which brought him to near-instant stardom. The song reached number one in the UK in 1968, became a staple of his many live shows (Woodstockand theIsle of Wightin 1969, theParty at the Palacein 2002), and was also known as the theme song for the late 1980s American TV seriesThe Wonder Years. He continued his success with hissecond album, which included a second Beatles song: "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window". A hastily thrown together 1970 US tour led to the live double albumMad Dogs & Englishmen, which featured an all-star band organized byLeon Russell. His 1974 recording of "You Are So Beautiful" reached number five in the US, and became hissignature song.Cocker's best-selling song was the US number one "Up Where We Belong", a duet withJennifer Warnesthat earned a 1983Grammy Award. He released a total of 22 studio albums over a 43-year recording career.

In 1993, Cocker was nominated for theBrit Awardfor Best British Male. He was awarded a bronzeSheffield Legendsplaque in his hometown in 2007 and received anOBEthe following year for services to music. Cocker was ranked number 97 onRolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers list.

I GOT TO SEE HIM PERFORM AT THE HORDERN PAVILLION - MEMORABLE.THE SEATS WE HAD PUT US RIGHT BEHIND ONE OF THE FEW PILLARS - FRUSTRATING. I ALWAYS WANTED TO FRAME ONE OF THESE POSTERS FOR HOME, BUT I HAD SO MUCH STILL TO HANG ON WALLS. SAW IT, LOVED IT FRAMED IT - MY WIFE, MARILYN SAID, PLEASE STOP.I opened my first store in Sydney trading asSTAR ROCK AND MOVIE POSTERS. I had poster stocks coming in from all over the world - AND - like any mad collector I got carried away. With new movie posters and concert posters that came into the store, I put one of each away for ME. It was after about two years that my wife stopped me from continuing the bad habit. All of the deliveries were booked in AND went into stock for sale and not Keith's special storeroom, oh my! When the hoarded posters ended up[ in the regular stock our customers thought it was Christmas, so to speak.
Over the years I accumulated a massive collection of things that I wanted, that I may have purchased on impulse with the intention of framing for display in the home. You can only frame and fill so much space in any home. I was running four stores plus a framing warehouse, so framing something up was not a problem - I was into rotating things on walls and things at times got out of control.
I always had a gem of an original HORROR poster framed in my office. My favourite vintage artist was Reynold Brown, the one sheet from HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL starring Vincent Price spent a year or so at the entry to the office.
