flourish. As “Libertador Presidente de la Republica [de Colombia],” Guayaquil,
May 9, 1823. On bifolium, 8-3/8 x 12-1/8. In Spanish. With a bold example of the
more desirable full variant of his signature, the document itself more typographically
elaborate and displayable than his later Colombia documents.
With manuscript notation in later hand, perhaps first third of twentieth century, “Coleccionde M(anuel) M. Buenaventura,” the defunct, eponymous private museum in Cali, Colombia.Born 1880, Buenaventura was Mayor of Cali, Colombia’s Secretary of Agriculture &Finance, and an important historian and collector.
