The Haori is a traditional Japanese thigh-length kimono-style jacket worn mostly by Japanese men. A Haori is usually worn open or sometimes closed by a string (has loops but no string). The Haori traditionally was worn with the pattern on the inside and left open to reveal what's underneath. However, today, many people wear the pattern on the outside to show it off. This Haori features a dramatic image of a dragon in clouds.
This Haori may be much older than I can tell. Since there is no label, it's at least mid-century. Also, newer Haori often have an ammonia odor. However, this Haori has no odor, so it could be an older garment and very collectible. Either way, you can enjoy wearing it to dress up your favorite dinner outfit or to complement your designer jeans.
I believe this piece is made entirely of silk, though I can't guarantee that. I burn-tested a small loose thread and it burns like silk. One size fits most (OSFM). This garment feels fairly heavy for its size, at 1.4 lbs. Looks almost never worn with no apparent stains or damage at all. However, you may want to get it cleaned by an expert in Japanese silk.
