Up for sale in this listing is a pair of needlepoint samplers executed in 1854 by Canadian sisters Mary Ann Collier and Eliza Collier, aged 10 and 12 respectfully. These are in excellent condition, with vibrant colors and well preserved materials. Very little fading and contained within contemporary frames.
The scripture quoted in each reads as follows, for Mary Ann Collier:
“Jesus said, Suffer little
Children, and foroffer them
Not, to come unto me.”
For Eliza Collier:
“The eyes of the Lord are
in every Place_ Sin not_”
It is rare to find two pieces executed in the same year by sisters of the same family, especially in such an unblemished condition. The cost of these samplers is higher than most listings from the same time period, but the price reflects this novelty.
