View Larger Image   G.I. MIX Socket Chisel Beveled 3/4 inch wide   Description: This is a rare 3/4" wide, beveled socket firmer chisel marked "G.I. MIX & CO. NO. 1 EX". We have not seen one quite like this one in years! This one is in really nice shape, considering that it is from the late 1900's era. This one has a few minor issues, but overall is in great useable shape! Plenty of length, 8.3" cutting edge to end of socket, 11.5" including the handle. We note some pitting or casting roughness on the outside socket, no effect on use. The cutting edge is in very good shape, sharp and ready to use. The important area around the cutting edge is very clean as you can see in the pictures. G.I. MIX & CO., A quality maker from Connecticut USA up until the early 1900's, made EXTRA NO.1 chisel, meaning top of the line quality tool steel, and steel processing. The cutting edge on these chisels holds an edge very well, a pleasure to use! The handle is solid, nice leather cap end, about 98% like new.
