A rare and important first edition of Likutei Biurim, the celebrated commentary of R. Hillel HaLevi of Paritch on the teachings of R. Dov Ber Schneuri, the Mitteler Rebbe of Lubavitch.

The volume contains the Mitteler Rebbe’s fundamental Kuntres HaHispaalus, printed in the center of the page and surrounded by R. Hillel Paritcher’s extensive commentary. The commentary is divided into Mahadura Kama and Mahadura Tinyana.
The book also contains R. Hillel’s explanations on portions of Shaar HaYichud and the introduction to Derech Chaim, including spiritual instruction and practical guidance for businessmen engaged in commerce.
Kuntres HaHispaalus was composed by the Mitteler Rebbe in 1814 and discusses five forms of spiritual and emotional inspiration in Avodas Hashem. It explains the difference between genuine inner Hispaalus and undesirable external emotional excitement—an important subject in the development of early Chabad philosophy.
R. HILLEL PARITCHER
R. Hillel HaLevi of Paritch was one of the greatest Chassidim, Mashpi’im and expositors of Chabad Chassidus. He was a distinguished disciple of the Mitteler Rebbe and the Tzemach Tzedek.
His writings, including Likutei Biurim and Pelach HaRimon, are regarded as foundational works of Chabad thought. According to R. Hillel’s grandson, this commentary was printed directly from his manuscripts and preserves “his exact golden language.”
