This may be one of the coolest antiques I\'ve ever had the pleasure of selling! I picked this up near Lewiston, Idaho. The previous owner got it out of a fire truck he bought over 30 years ago, also near Lewiston. Presumably, this is where it was used.
It is dated April 4th, 1939. (Funny side note, my birthday is April 4th. Haha.) From what I\'ve read, these weren\'t typically used a lot but were standard for the bigger fire departments. You would have 8 to 12 men hold it out at arm\'s length and shoulder height for somebody to jump on it.
Overall, there are no major flaws with this item. There is some discoloration on the target sheet, and a couple spots where the outer felt covers are torn, as shown. (Not sure exactly what material they are.)
It can be folded into quite a small package, as shown. It definitely weighs over 100 lb. When set up, it measures 115 in. or about 9½ ft.
The only comparable one I\'ve seen is listed on First Dibs for $26,000. I got mine at a great price, so I can afford to give you a great deal for this truly rare antique piece of history.
