Beautiful collection of 13 vintage German mercury glass bird Christmas ornaments, each with a traditional metal clip for attaching directly to a Christmas tree branch.
The assortment includes colorful songbirds, cardinals and two larger matte-gold peacock-style birds with glittered wings and long metallic tails. The birds feature silvered glass interiors with hand-applied painted, matte, glittered and feather details.
Five ornaments retain original tags or labels. One tag identifies Lauschaer Glaskugelhaus and reads:
“Original German handcrafted ornaments from Lauscha, the cradle of Glass Christmas Decorations.”
Additional label information includes “Thüringer Christbaumschmuck,” meaning Thuringian Christmas tree ornaments, and “Made in Germany.”
Very good vintage condition overall. The ornaments display beautifully. Light wear, minor finish variation and small areas of decoration loss may be present, consistent with age and the delicate handmade nature of these ornaments. The feather and metallic tails retain their shape overall but show some natural separation and bending from storage.
