A six page document of laws enacted by the colony of Massachusetts in 1736. It notably includes an Act for the more effectual punishment of theft: the second offense resulted in standing on the gallows for an hour and then whipping; The third offense resulted in death -- theft must have been quite a problem.
Other Acts which seem draconian today include requiring people give aid to Tax Collectors; requiring anyone who takes into their home a person from out of town to report them to the town; and much more. Please see the photos. About 7 1/2" x 12", 3 double-sided pages, heavy paper.
Good condition as shown. Edge wear. Toned from age but still supple, not brittle, and can be read and handled without fear. Displays really well.
