Recovered from a massive photographers estate in Clearwater Florida in 2014 that was situated next to our courthouse for over 65 years.
Not sure how these got left there
This lot includes 11 important cabinet cards & b&w photos made from those. You get 22 photos in all. Some of these are photos that were brought to the studio for the purposes of refurbishing or re-printing and it appears that they were never picked up. There is a second lot that relates to these if you are interested in those. I am selling them in two lots as they were found separately in two envelopes in the estate.
READ THE BACKS OF THE CARDS!! It tells you who these people are. Obviously these were all brought in together & document a very prominent family during the Spanish American war conflict & the descendants who also served. All affiliated with Rough Riders & Spanish American War then the descendants are here also.
The family history is mostly written on the back of the one card but there are notes and names on the others. I could make this a very lengthy ad but you’re welcome to do the research on the people that are here. This is an important family with military ties throughout several generations.
The Colonel Thomas Holmes, Pictured with his family in January 1899, would’ve been right after the end of the war where he was the head of the US Armed hospital in Cebu Philippines.
Apparently then his son and grandson both served in other parts of the Armed Forces
I have no idea why these were found still in the estate & why they were never picked up. The cabinet cards were obviously brought there for the making of black-and-white prints, which are also included in your purchase here.

We want to get this photographers photos and story online, collected & preserved in as many places as possible. The items that you are buying were almost left behind for the landfill & The Clearwater historical society does little in my opinion to truly honor this man’s lifetime of work for this great city.
George Fulmer was a Photographer for the city of Clearwater for over half a century. He was also a Navy enlisted photographer during WW2.
After cleaning out the residence & studio in 2014, we had to sort through about 100,000 photographs & negatives to offer these items here. They were purchased on a contract separate from the building & copyright is not transferred
We hope to bring some recognition to his life's work, as well as to find homes for some parts of the history of an entire city, as documented by the city photographer.
Holding any piece from this collection will be rare.
