This is a rare early hand thrown redware large shaving mug from the early 1800s...probably New England?....Hand thrown on a potter\'s wheel with small brush cup attached to inside....applied ear handle....4 1/8\"tall x 4 1/2\"across rim....dipped in a dark slip with manganese or lead glaze....handle was broken and reglued; also has a faint 1/2\"hairline crack on rim; no other damage.
