An original 1859 embossed copper plaque of the Declaration of Independence, created by renowned maker Samuel H. Black.
This historic piece was manufactured in New York using the innovative "electrolytic casting" process of the era. It features the complete, microscopic text of the Declaration of Independence in raised lettering, facsimile signatures of the signers along the bottom, and a highly detailed central medallion depicting the historic July 4th, 1776 signing scene (after the famous painting by John Trumbull).
Text at the base reads: "Entered According To The Act Of Congress, in the year 1859 by S.H. Black In The Clerk's Office of The District Court For The Southern District of New York."
Condition Notes:
