The reverse carries the school's complete printed prospectus: "Twelve miles from Depot, Thirty-First and Chestnut Streets, Philadelphia, on the Philadelphia and West Chester R. R. — Recommended by Bayard Taylor, Hon. Fernando Wood, Judge Van Hoesen, Governor Routt, Rev. Drs. Hill and Peabody, Gen. Chas. H. T. Collis, &c. — For Illustrated Circular containing Pictures of Building, Gymnasium, &c., address Swithin C. Shortlidge, A.M. (Harvard Graduate), Media, Penna." Photographer's imprint: S. McMullin, 915 Sansom Street, Philadelphia.
The date is written into the endorsements: Routt became Governor of Colorado in 1876; Bayard Taylor, the celebrated Pennsylvania-born travel writer, died in December 1878 — the card was printed between those two events. A documented piece of Delaware County educational history.
