My dear Sir,
Please to pay back £30 to Hunter in consideration of bad seasons during the last 5 or 6 years, and according to present prices & seasons, the damage of his farm — but I do not hold out any promise that any further allowance will be made to him during his present lease —
If you come to terms about both the boys, take care that I shall never again be expected to undertake Agricultural Holdings Act or none. Many of the Miss Goold’s share who’ve been talking of Blount in regard to my father & Mr. Cooper in the future, I wish you could find out from Annie Ann, the value of Mr. Cooper at the present time? Is she able to do her own kitchen work, or does the house work come more heavily upon Annie than it would do if Mr. Cooper was not so crippled? Of course two active maids are better than one and a half; but my father should not remain without some drawn out trial of the place. Mr. Cooper might be sufficient & capable to fill the place for us — from any time.
