1885 DOULTON LAMBETH VASES PAIR Hand Painted LACE FLORALS SLATERS PATENT 8\" For Sale

Offered is an exceptional and scarce matched pair of Victorian Art Pottery double gourd (double-bulb) vases made by Doulton Lambeth. Each vase features an elegant double-gourd silhouette, rare form. The lower bulbous chamber is decorated with deeply carved and relief-molded foliage and stylized floral sprays picked out in a matte duck-egg blue glaze, heavily outlined in burnished gold leaf gilding. The bases are fully stamped with the impressed shield-shaped \"DOULTON SILICON LAMBETH\" mark, the clear production year 1885, impressed shape/model numbers, and incised monograms from the Lambeth studio decorators.
Condition: Very Good Victorian Antique Condition with outstanding color preservation, vibrant matte blue slip, and bright gilding with minimal surface rub. Vases exhibits natural kiln firing/stress crack along the raised central spine of blue relief leaves near the lower rim (see closeup photograph). This occurred during the original drying/firing process due to clay tension in the relief molding. The gold decoration tracks naturally around/into the separation, confirming it is an original 19th-century factory artifact rather than post-production damage.
