Description
This is a late Victorian era circa 1890 cabinet card portrait of a young, stylish, and rather intellectual-looking young woman. She is wearing rounded wire-rimmed spectacles and an elaborate hat, decorated with feathers, ruffles and other decorative elements, tilted at a dramatic angle. Her high-collared bodice features geometric velvet ribbon-work detailing over a textured fabric. I wonder if she was a student at the University of Illinois?

~ Authentic vintage condition, with light mottling on image surface, and some fading, or burn-out around the lower image. Several small stains on image background; toning on the very light-colored mount.
