Original 1891 Union Pacific Railway Company expense voucher documenting a livestock damage claim in Nebraska.
Dated August 25, 1891 at Omaha, Nebraska, the voucher records multiple cattle killed by Union Pacific trains near Dexter on the railroad's main line.
The document specifically records:
• April 30, 1891 – 2-year-old American steer killed by Engine No. 692, Train No. 2
• May 5, 1891 – 3-year-old American steer killed by Engine No. 801, Train No. 4
• May 11, 1891 – cow killed
• June 12, 1891 – 5-year-old cow and 2-month-old calf killed by an unidentified engine and train
The original claim was for $135 and was settled for $115.
Issued to J. H. Abshire of Paxton, Nebraska, with payment to Charles McDonald of North Platte. Includes multiple Union Pacific auditor, treasury and accounting stamps, handwritten approvals and signatures.
Reverse is marked under the railroad accounting category "L. & D. Stock."
