Offered for sale is this outstanding 18th-century style trade knife, hand forged by noted maker Mark McCoun.

This is a beautifully made, traditionally styled knife featuring a hand-forged carbon steel blade and an exceptional handle made from approximately 6,000-year-old bog oak. The ancient bog oak gives the handle a deep, distinctive color and character that is impossible to duplicate with modern wood.

The knife is accompanied by a handmade leather sheath, constructed in the traditional style with hand-laced stitching and a long leather carrying strap. The sheath has developed a wonderful aged appearance that complements the knife extremely well.

The blade displays the character and subtle variations associated with a hand-forged, individually made knife, rather than a modern mass-produced reproduction. The handle is particularly impressive, with the ancient bog oak showing beautiful natural grain and style American/Frontier trade knife
