Two-piece 1903 paper group from The Hayner Distilling Co., distillers of pure rye and bourbon whiskey, with operations illustrated in Dayton, Ohio and St. Louis, Missouri. Both pieces relate to F. W. J. Kasten of hicksville ny and measure approximately 8.5 x 7.25 inches each.
The standout piece is a highly graphic December 24, 1903 BILLHEAD, featuring detailed engraved-style illustrations of Hayner's registered distillery and its large offices and shipping depots in Dayton and St. Louis. The advertising prominently states “Distillers of Pure Rye and Bourbon Whiskey” and “We Sell Our Entire Product Direct to the Consumer — Not a Member of the Whiskey Trust.” The bill records 8 quarts and a $7.10 charge, shipped via Wells Fargo Express.
Also included is a December 30, 1903 receipt/remittance acknowledgment on ornate Hayner Distilling Co. stationery, acknowledging the $7.10 payment. It retains the attached printed remittance/order portion at the side.
