Antique 1904 Joseph Sankey & Sons Solid Copper Lidded Jug Flagon -Art Nouveau Arts & Crafts5 1/2 inches tall. Base has 4 1/4 inch diameter.The base is stamped with the manufacturer’s early initials \"JB&SB\" (Joseph Sankey & Sons, Bilston), the volume capacity number \"1\" (representing 1 pint), and the British Registered Design Number \"Rd 409942\", which officially dates the design registration to 1904.A spectacular piece of genuine Edwardian metalware, this solid copper lidded jug/flagon was manufactured in Staffordshire, England by the renowned firm Joseph Sankey & Sons (JS&S). This highly collectible piece features an embossed stylized Art Nouveau floral/plant design—historically recognized from their production lines as the \"Willow\" pattern. The vessel features a classic, tapered Arts & Crafts form, complete with a robust fixed copper handle and a hand-hammered finish stretching across the domed portion of its hinged lid.Very good antique condition with a gorgeous, rich unpolished patina showing deep historical character. The hinge mechanism works smoothly and the lid sits properly. There is a vertical shallow indentation visible on the upper body and a small dent along the lower base rim, minor surface scuffs, fine scratches, areas of natural aging and tarnish on the metal, and verdigris buildup in the crevices.
