Williams era. Includes period photographs of early athletic gear and teams.This 1905 edition contains one of the most famous and highly sought-after archival images of Bobby Marshall. It features a individual full-body studio portrait of Marshall in his padded canvas football uniform (\"No. 14, Position: End\"). As the first African American to play football in the Big Ten and one of the very first Black players in the NFL (1920). Secondly, Bobby is also pictured in a full-page team photo!Features rare, historic photographs of the early University of Minnesota Women\'s Basketball team. Along with other sports team photos, group and student photos and many pages of period advertisements.Beautifully illustrated with gorgeous, hand-drawn Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts style section dividers, student sketches, portraits of early faculty (including President Cyrus Northrop), fraternities, sororities, literary societies, and engineering clubs.Original owner\'s name is written on inside cover and front fly leaf.Book is in good to very good condition for its age. Cover shows minor wear to edges and surface, mainly bumping/wear to outside corners where it is worn through.The first few pages show slight separation from the spine, but overall, the binding is tight, structurally sound. Some pages near the front of the book have soft waves along the side edge. A few pages have a tiny edge tear, a few pages have minor dents, and a few pages have a production crease.Some pages show a few light finger smudges or light soiling, but most pages are clean, crisp, and free of writing (other than owner\'s name in front), with beautiful toning appropriate for a 120+ year-old book.The front end paper has a small break at the top where the cover bends for the spine, hardly noticeable. The bottom and side closed page edges have a very small faint brown stain. Please review all photos closely for exact condition.
