The 1910 Carlton Ware ceramic Match Striker featuring the Oriel College, Oxford University Coat of Arms is a highly collectible piece. The 3\" round decorative table vesta was used to hold matches and strike them on the textured surface.It features a navy blue body and a central shield with three lions. Most interesting is that Oriel College was fouded by King Edward II, it uses the Royal Arms of England distinguished by the silver border. The shield features three golden lions walking forward with their faces turned toward the viewer arranged vertically. It is enclosed by a white/silver wavy edge from heraldry. Thank you.
