1910 Rock Island Lines Chicago White Sox Special Framed Train Menu & Photograph
Very nice antique shape. Photograph is Sepia, and appears to be an original cabinet card photograph. Menu is original as well. The menu would have been given to the players on the train ride to spring training, and was most likely different each day. Photograph has a couple small tears. It may have some fading as well.
There is a text caption that reads:
\"Chicago white Sox Special train at the hanging bridge, royal gorge, Colorado, on the Denver & Rio grande railroad, February 27 1910, enroute to spring training in San Francisco. This was the first team to play in Comiskey Park in July 1910...\" it goes on to tell where Charles Comiskey and Chick Candil (organizer of 1919 black Sox scandal) are located in the photograph.
It is accompanied by a color lithograph print of the team and the train on the same bridge, possibly on their trip returning to Chicago later that spring. The Litho appears to be a page out of a brochure of attractions in the colorado Mountains realesed around this time period. Litho has a wrinkle. Frame measures 21.5x17.5\". All three items appear to be fairly rare. The set displays very well. See pictures to make your own determination on physical condition.
