Here's a very scarce Type TRU Ace Concert Receptor manufactured in 1922 by the Precision Equipment Company in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Though the TRU Concert Receptor was -- at $50 -- a somewhat pricey, low production receiver that bore little outward resemblance to the hundreds of thousands of inexpensive regenerative radios that would eventually follow it out of the factory of Precision's crosstown rival, the Crosley Manufacturing Company, the TRU was in fact the driving force behind Crosley's 1923 acquisition of Precision. Precision possessed an Armstrong license for radio signal regeneration, and Crosley very much wantedone.
Condition of the TRU is good, and the radio is one of only three examples I've seen in the 35 years that I've been buying and selling radio gear from the 1920's. There's a splinter of wood missing along the vertical seam of the cabinet's rear right corner, but the radio is otherwise complete and correct and retains both of its metal tags on the top side of the lid.
Tuning coil is still tightly wound around the form, tube socket and rheostat are undamaged, UV-201 tube has a good filament.
Despite its relative simplicity, this is a large radio. It measures approximately 17" wide by 7" deep by 7" high. Shipping weight, properly packed, will be about 15 lb.
