Dan was a traveling water plant engineer, and this letter includes several interesting details about his job. He writes that he has had approximately 1,000 pounds of material shipped from Kansas City, describes a plant with four wells and a cistern, and says he will need to pipe gas to each of the wells. He notes that the closest well is about 90 yards from the pumps and that the wells are scattered around the property.
Dan also discusses receiving Alice\'s letter, the difficulty of being away from her, mutual acquaintances, and the hot Kansas weather. He closes the letter, “Lovingly Yours, Dan.”
Dating note: The Anthony, Kansas postmark is quite faint and the year cannot be read with certainty. This letter was found together with the other Dan-to-Alice correspondence from 1924, and is being attributed to that year based on its association with that group. The faint postmark is shown closely in the photographs so the buyer can evaluate it.
Letter and envelope show expected age-related wear, folds, toning, staining and handling consistent with approximately century-old correspondence. Please review all photographs for condition and content.
