Rare 1926 historical ephemera set from "Camp O’Dreams," located at Mt. Arab, New York, in the heart of the Adirondacks. This archival lot includes an original promotional folder brochure and a matching typed letter, offering an authentic, beautifully preserved glimpse into early 20th-century Adirondack resort tourism.
The promotional folder, titled "The story of a home-like camp in the Adirondacks," features a detailed hand-drawn transit map outlining route access via macadam roads and the New York Central Railroad (Childwold Station). The interior includes comprehensive descriptions of the 1,000-acre tract, local trout fishing, canoeing routes to Tupper Lake, and accommodations alongside crisp historical photographs of the Main House, Living Room, Dining Room, and Veranda. Notably, the brochure states "Tubercular patients will not be admitted," reflecting common regional policies of the sanitarium era.
Accompanying the brochure is a perfectly paired typed letter on official camp stationery, dated June 24, 1926, addressed to a "Dear Berry" from proprietors B.J. Falls and C.P. Falls. The letter features fantastic period charm and humor, playfully chiding the recipient for "goinfishin" elsewhere when the local trout are "just'sittinaround' waitiz to be ketched." It provides fascinating logistical details about a newly finished 3-mile dirt road from Childwold Station and conditions through Tupper Lake Village.
