Offered is an original 1926 business correspondence set consisting of a signed letter from George H. Lincks, Varnish Gums, together with the original technical advertising brochure referenced within the letter.
Dated February 10, 1926, the letter is typed on George H. Lincks letterhead from One Liberty Street, New York City, and addressed to Mr. C. P. Foland, 505 Oregon Building, Portland, Oregon. It discusses various natural varnish gums and references the enclosed publication, “Resins for Lacquers and Their Solvents,” which is included with this offering.
The accompanying fold-out brochure is a fascinating period reference covering lacquer resins, shellac, damar gum, copal, kauri gum, solvents, and early finishing formulas used within the paint and varnish industry. It also features a portrait of George H. Lincks and serves as an excellent example of 1920s industrial printing and technical advertising.
A wonderful piece of American industrial and chemical history that would display beautifully framed with the signed letter alongside the brochure.
