This is an original antique Valentines Day card. It is NOT a reproduction. During the 1890-1920's elaborate Valentine's Day cards were all the rage. They were made with lace, honeycomb paper, scraps of die cut images such as flowers, animals, children, angels, women and hearts. Often they are layered and have paper springs between the layers to give them a popped out 3-D look.
Check out this rare valentine's day card that has a hand written date of 1927 on the back. It is just amazingly beautiful and in near perfect condition. It is a dimensional valentine display. It starts out flat then open the front part which says, "To My Valentine", up into this 3-D display. It is 4 layers of dimensional. Made up of scraps of angels, birds, flowers and string. Image of an angel holding a string tied to doves that pulls a wagon of flowers. There are 3 paper honeycomb balls in the center. It measures 8 x 12 x 4 inches when displayed. It is in excellent condition. Some slight wear here and there. Tip of dove wing missing. A centerpiece to any collection! This beautiful Valentine was from the collection of Evaline Pulati whom was known for her historical valentine collection and was founder and president of the National Valentine Collectors Association.
