Large original Golden Age Hollywood scrapbook containing approximately 70
pages of movie-star photographs, newspaper and magazine clippings, theater
tickets, programs and related entertainment ephemera.
The collection dates primarily from the late 1930s through the 1940s and
includes material relating to many major Hollywood personalities.
Visible subjects include Shirley Temple, Humphrey Bogart, Joan Crawford,
Gene Autry, Veronica Lake, Jeanette MacDonald, Nelson Eddy, Bette Davis,
Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Clark Gable, Robert Taylor, Bing Crosby,
William Powell, Gary Cooper, Myrna Loy, Sonja Henie, Jane Withers and
many others.
Also included are period RKO Palace Theatre tickets and promotional slips,
Horace Heidt and Kay Kyser material, a 1939 Albany High School graduation
program, Amelia Earhart-related newspaper material, vintage movie and
entertainment clippings and large color celebrity portraits.
Several large photographs bear signatures or inscriptions. These have not
been authenticated and are not being represented as original hand-signed
autographs; some period publicity photographs were issued with printed,
facsimile or secretarial signatures.
The scrapbook shows considerable age and use. The decorative cover has
rubbing and edge wear. Interior pages have age toning, chipping, tears,
creases and other expected wear. Most of the approximately 70 scrapbook
pages are loose. Mounted photographs, tickets and clippings remain in
varying vintage condition.
An impressive intact archive of Golden Age Hollywood and entertainment
ephemera with excellent display, research and collecting interest.
