Vintage circa-1930s Ransburg-style American stoneware cookie jar/crock with original-style fitted lid, distinctive shoulder handles, and hand-painted floral decoration.
Measures approximately 9\" tall and 7.5\" across the shoulders. Lid measures approximately 6\" across.
The underside is impressed “USA” directly into the pottery. The interior is glazed.
The exterior retains remnants of its original hand-painted floral and foliate decoration in green and reddish tones. There is substantial age-related loss and fading to the painted decoration, giving the piece a wonderful primitive, timeworn appearance.
This form is attributed to Ransburg based on documented period examples with the same proportions, shoulder-handle construction, glazed interior, hand-painted decoration, and USA-only marking. This example does not bear the full Ransburg company mark, so please review all photographs and make your own assessment.
