Description:
Up for sale is an estate-found, completely unpolished, and unrestored vintage W.A. Sheaffer Balance fountain pen from the early 1930s. This compact pocket-sized pen measures approximately 4.25 to 4.5 inches long when capped.
It is made of the highly collectible and striking \"Red Veined Grey Pearl\" celluloid material. The barrel features a crisp, legible factory imprint reading: \"W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co. Fort Madison, Iowa, U.S.A. Pat. D-78,795\".
The pen is equipped with its original, correct 14-karat solid gold Sheaffer \"3-25\" nib, which indicates a historic $3.25 retail price from the Depression era.
Condition Report:
- Mechanical Condition: Untested and unrestored. The barrel threads are currently tight, and the section does not easily twist apart. I have not tried to force or open the pen to avoid causing any damage to the vintage celluloid. The lever moves, but the internal ink sac will absolutely need replacement if you plan to write with it.
- Cosmetic Condition: The celluloid retains great color depth. There are minor surface scratches and pocket wear typical for an authentic, untouched vintage writing instrument of this age. The gold-plated trim shows standard light wear. Please examine the high-resolution photos closely for exact cosmetic details.
This is a wonderful, honest preservation piece perfect for a vintage fountain pen collector or restoration hobbyist looking for a premium color profile!
