Take an incredible trip back in time to the week of Aug 16-22, 1931 in NYC where The Women\'s National Tennis Championships is going on at Forest Hills Park. It wasn\'t yet named the U.S. Open (that occurred in 1968) but that\'s what this is. Helen Wills Moody won the singles title.
The booklet is from The Roosevelt Hotel and was a tourist guide for entertainment and things to do in the city that week. Some of the ads, snarky gossipy columnists/cultural commentators are hilarious. Barbara Stanwyck was starring in the movies. There\'s an ad for Ziegfeld\'s Follies, etc. etc. The stock market had crashed almost two years prior. So this was the start of some dark economic times in America.
Just an all-in-all incredible time travel and historical piece.
