Remarkable six-volume pre-WWII Eagle Rock High School yearbook archive spanning 1936–1939.
Offered together as found, this collection of TOTEM yearbooks from Eagle Rock High School in Los Angeles, California belonged to Marguerite Buck and preserves several years of her high-school experience in one unusually cohesive archive.
The books are extensively signed and inscribed by classmates, with period messages, names, well wishes, humorous comments and hand-drawn illustrations throughout. Rather than detracting from the books, these inscriptions provide a wonderful snapshot of teenage life and school culture in Los Angeles during the late Depression era.
Especially appealing are the dramatically different 1930s TOTEM cover designs, typography and bindings, ranging from bold geometric/Art Deco graphics to script lettering and spiral-bound formats. Interiors contain class portraits, faculty, clubs, activities, athletics, campus photographs, student artwork and period advertising/design.

These are approximately 90 years old and show expected age and handling wear, including cover/edge wear, toning, marks, inscriptions and other evidence of use. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition and contents. The extensive period writing is an important part of the history and character of this particular archive.
The six volumes are being sold together intentionally to preserve their shared Marguerite Buck provenance and 1936–1939 chronology.
A wonderful original archive for collectors of Los Angeles history, Eagle Rock history, vintage yearbooks, genealogy, 1930s photography, school ephemera and American graphic design.
All six volumes pictured are included.
