1943 Columbia 26" Mens Army Airforce War WWII Bicycle Goodfellow AFB Baskets For Sale

This is how I got the bike. If you are looking to collect one of the rarest of the rare do not pass on this one. Third photo is and older one with out the rack on. The bike comes with both original racks and license plate. This bike came from a Museum in SF that moved and had it for sale. Very good shape and may be restored not sure. Total correct ALL parts. Very good undamaged seat with correct undercarriage. Original grips!! Tires are period US but do not have war bike on them. The Columbia seat tool pouch is in very good shape came with this bike. Some other Army bikes had metal pouches but I think this bike is nice exactly the way you see it. The air pump does not work but is original and perfect for display.Who knows how the older Army sack got used by the last owner.Quite a History on the bike. You won't find another like this one! Goodfellow airfield's history traces to the days before the attack on Pearl Harbor, but its name registered the valor and sacrifice of an earlier conflict. On 14 September 1918, First Lieutenant John J. Goodfellow, Jr., of San Angelo, Texas, boarded his Salmson 2A2 observation plane at Gondreville Airfield in France to conduct visual reconnaissance behind enemy lines. The mission was part of a larger undertaking just underway, a major American offensive intended to reduce the German salient near Saint-Mihiel. Unfortunately, adverse weather permitted observation only at a low altitude that exposed the lumbering Salmson to enemy pursuit. Three days later, the offensive a success, the young pilot's remains were recovered from his ruined craft and interred at the St. Mihiel American Cemetery and Memorial near Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle.Please look at the photos they tell you more than words and ask questions before offerding.
