KELLOGG’S PEP CEREAL PREMIUM PINBACK BUTTONS — LOT OF 4
Original vintage Kellogg’s PEP cereal-premium pinback buttons from the 1945–1947 comic-character promotion. These small lithographed buttons were inserted into specially marked PEP cereal boxes and feature newspaper comic-strip characters of the Golden Age.

HISTORY & COLLECTOR APPEAL
PEP was introduced by Kellogg’s in 1923 and became closely associated with radio and comic-strip advertising. Beginning in 1945, Kellogg placed these comic-character pinbacks in cereal boxes; the promotion continued through 1947. They are collected today as early in-box cereal prizes and appeal to collectors of Kellogg’s advertising, cereal premiums, Golden Age comics and vintage pinbacks. PEP also sponsored The Adventures of Superman radio program; this is historical context only, and no Superman button is included in this as-found vintage condition. The buttons show substantial scratches, lithograph/paint loss, discoloration, oxidation or rust spotting, edge wear and age patina. The long pins remain present. The display cards and clear coverings have tears, wrinkles, staple holes, cracks and creases. No cleaning or restoration has been attempted. Please examine every close-up photograph and the Collector’s View, as the images are part of the condition lot came from the inherited collection of a family friend who was an avid collector of antiques and historical memorabilia. Her collection was assembled over many years through antique shops and public and private sales, including in the Los Angeles area. No formal provenance documentation accompanies the lot; this background is shared for transparency.
