Available for your collection is an authentic, original 1945 underground mine survey map and assay report for the historic Queen of Sheba Mine, located in Inyo County, California (within the modern-day Death Valley Wilderness region).This is a rare piece of World War II-era California mining history, officially certified and signed by the field engineer.Document Highlights:Dimensions: Large format drafting sheet measuring 24 x 20 inches (ideal size for standard framing).Date: Map surveyed April 12–13, 1945 by the New Sutherland Divide Mining Company. The attached assay data is dated February 21, 1945.Content: Features a highly detailed underground schematic illustrating tunnels, crosscuts, and stopes. The upper left corner features a complete, typed "Assay Reports" table detailing the historical gold, silver, and lead yields sampled from various veins.Provenance: Officially signed in ink in the lower right corner by the surveyor, D. L. Seal, certifying the field survey.Scale: 1 inch = 30 feet.Condition Report:This map has survived remarkably well over the last 80+ years. The paper stock is on the thinner side (highly typical of engineering, drafting traces, and blueprint intermediates of the mid-century era), but the paper remains incredibly strong, flexible, and durable.There are absolutely no tears, splits, or brittle edges. It exhibits beautiful, uniform natural browning (age toning) throughout and light historical tape marks on the outer margins, which underscores its genuine age and authentic field use. It is entirely clean, structurally sound, and would look spectacular framed.
