The reason it is a 1945 is because at the end of the war illys made a few column shift Jeeps - This one of them - It has the large hole above the steering wheel tube - When I bought the Jeep 1 keep looking at that hole wondering why it was so large - I had to dig through a lot of history artistics to find out that the Willys Corp at the end of the war though that the public wanted a \"car\" like feel to the Jeeps So the put the snifter on the column - They were wrong - Jeep only did that for two years The end of 1945 and some of the year of 1946 - This Jeep has a very low serial number so I\'m calling it a
1945- Just a side note I almost ground the serial number plate away - It was on the out side of the frame and heavily covered in paint -I mistook the ID plate for sloppy welds and almost ground it away The old jeep runs great-- The reason I\'m selling it is - I\'m 6\'2\" and weigh 240 Ib - I can\'t fit behind the steering wheel - my belly is to big and ny knees hit the dash - I\'m in the American Legion and was only planning on using the jeep in pa raids and funerals - This a true Willys CJ2 BUT it has a Ford
GPW full float rear end (that was rebuilt and resealed)
I don\'t know where to start on the list of NEW parts on this Jeep But here it goes:
Starter-- water pump - distributor - radiator - gas tank - both front seats - tool box - all four tires 6 ply and tubs - breaks linings rims break lines master cylinder flex lines - windshield glass seat covers - heated seat - windshield wipers (electric) - lights all around - Green Top-- Top support bars - sid curtains - back seat - new cylinder head -- body mounts - Turn signals - Alternator 12volt - muffler and pipes - clutch and fly wheel - rear drive shaft rebuilt — I have the front shaft but I didn\'t install it
(I wasn\'t sure of the gear ratios between the CJ2 front axle and the GPW\'s rear ratio)
