Original vintage Henry Thiele’s Restaurant menu from Portland, Oregon, dated Saturday, May 10, 1947.
Henry Thiele’s was located at Twenty-Third at Burnside in Portland, Oregon. The colorful front features an image of the distinctive restaurant building and a portrait of Henry Thiele. Inside is an extensive period menu with prices, including seafood, steaks, sandwiches, salads, vegetables, desserts, fountain drinks, beer, wine and champagne.
The center section features “Today’s Specials” for May 10, 1947, including Royal Spring Chinook salmon, mountain trout, barbecued crab, halibut, lamb, chicken, prime rib and many other dishes. The menu offers a fascinating look at Portland dining and restaurant prices in the late 1940s.
Measures approximately 9 1/2” wide when opened and about 7 1/2” tall, based on the measurements shown in the photos.
Good vintage condition for its age with expected handling wear, fold/crease lines, light discoloration, minor edge wear and some faint marks to the otherwise blank reverse. The printing and colorful front graphics remain very attractive. Please review all photos carefully for exact condition.
A particularly nice piece of Portland, Oregon restaurant history, and an appealing collectible for vintage menu, Pacific Northwest, food advertising or local-history collectors.
