Native American Indian... This is a complete 1947 Great Northern Railway “Blackfeet Indian Educational Portfolio”, titled Out of the North: A Brief Historical Sketch of the Blackfeet Indian Tribe by Frank Bird Linderman, with full-color illustrations by artist Winold Reiss.
Includes 11-page cardstock-covered booklet (9x12 inches) with text by Linderman on Blackfeet history and culture.
Contains 12 large color prints (9x12 inches) reproducing portraits of Blackfeet individuals by Winold Reiss. The set was originally issued with 24, so this is a partial but still highly collectible grouping.
Prints include notable Blackfeet figures, warriors, elders, and mothers with children, beautifully rendered in Reiss’s distinctive modernist-realist style.
Issued by Great Northern Railway Co. as part of their Glacier Park promotional efforts.

Reiss (1886–1953) was a German-born artist celebrated for his dignified portrayals of Native peoples, and his Blackfeet portraits became iconic through Great Northern calendars, prints, and museum displays. Frank Bird Linderman (1869–1938) was a writer, ethnographer, and advocate for Native rights whose works remain valued today.
