Vintage December 1953, advertising calender for W. L. Dent Company Beauty & Barber Supplies Equipment & Cosmetics Oglethorpe at Van Buren, Albany GA. Advertised hair sponsor was Westpoint Hair Tonic. The entire Calendar measures 14"x 21 1/8". The calendar has a great picture titled " Riding the Goat" and depicts a royal court scene with a Saint Bernard dog riding a goat with a Jester by his side entertaining the king in a Masonic initiation ritual. This was illustrated by C. M. Coolidge.
There is a Landseer Newfoundland and a Great Dane seated with the king. There is a Bulldog - West Highlland White Terrier dog - Setter dog - Springer Spaniel Dog - King Charles Spaniel Dog - Scottish Terrier Scottie - other Bully breed dogs along with numerous St. Bernard dogs. Many of the dogs are smoking cigars.
Calendar picture could be trimmed and framed or the entire calendar could be framed. The overall condition is good and comes shrink wrapped onto foam core. There is a tear in the upper right corner of the shrink wrap and some scratches but these are only on the shrink wrap and not on the calendar. The calendar outer edges are a little jagged and a few small edge tears. Some pencil writing in the blue background to left and right of company name. Please see photos for more detail.
