Up for sale today is a radio as pictured and describedabove and below.

AI = “Hit Parade Transistor” most commonly refers to a tiny 1950s–60s pockettransistor radio made by Bell Products Corp. of St. Louis, Missouri,as well as to the way such radios were used to listen to “hit parade” musicprograms of the era.

📻 What the Hit Parade Transistor is

·A one‑transistorpocket radio produced around 1958 by BellProducts Corp. It was extremely small (about 4 × 2.2 × 1.1 inches) anddesigned for earphone‑only listening.

·It ran on 2 or 4AAA batteries, depending on the version.

·It was marketed as a shirt‑pocketradio, often to kids, and sometimes advertised with playful slogans like “HEYKIDS! Conelrad broadcasts! Duck & Cover!”

The radio is inexcellent condition. I put batteries in it but could not get it to work. Theproblem is I can not find the tuning knob. Not on top or sides. I assume thedial 1-14 on front is volume.

The radio isdesigned for the earphone only. The white cord is the earplug. The black cords haveclips on them and pull out from radio.

AI = Black wires = Great— the A and G markings tell us exactly what those two black wiresare for on your Hit Parade radio.

Here’s what they mean:

The wire marked A goes to the ferrite rod antennacoil. This is the wire that brings the radio signal into the tuningcircuit.

If this wire is loose, the radio will barely pick upanything.

The wire marked G is the circuit ground.

On these tiny radios, “ground” usually means:

·The common return pathfor the transistor and tuning circuit

If this wire is disconnected, the radio won’t work at all.

This is all I knowwhich equals; I do not know if it works or nor. Sold as-is and untested.
