The Johnstown Mastodon refers to a nearly 90% complete, 19-year-old male mastodon skeleton discovered on August 12, 1926, by farmer James Bailey near Johnstown, Ohio. It is one of the best-preserved specimens in North America, found in a peat pit on the Friend Butt farm (now near the Johnstown Trailhead Park) and is currently held at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
