A wonderful period guide to driving and sightseeing in West Germany during the Cold War. Includes 11 suggested motoring tours with route maps, mileage and sightseeing information, along with advice for foreign motorists concerning German traffic regulations, customs, gasoline, car hire and travel documents.
Particularly interesting Cold War content includes references to the Soviet Zone / German Democratic Republic and the Soviet Sector of Berlin. The large rear map depicts West Germany, the Soviet Zone and Berlin and includes an inset showing Germany’s 1937 borders.
Illustrated throughout with attractive period color photographs of German cities, villages, autobahns, landscapes and automobiles, including Volkswagen vehicles.
Published by Deutsche Zentrale für Fremdenverkehr and printed by Gerstung, Offenbach am Main. Printing code at rear reads “645 (280) 2.64 Engl.”, dating this English-language edition to 1964.
