Original 1964 Ukrainian Soviet New Year greeting card / official party greeting, issued in the Ukrainian SSR during the Soviet period.
The front features a striking Soviet propaganda composition printed in red, showing Vladimir Lenin, industrial factories, wheat, evergreen branches and a large banner inscribed in Ukrainian:
“КОМУНІЗМ” – “COMMUNISM”
The interior contains an official New Year greeting written entirely in the Ukrainian language and personally addressed in blue ink to:
“тов. Половко В. У.” – Comrade Polovko V. U.
The printed greeting congratulates the recipient on the New Year 1964, wishes continued success in productive work for the benefit of the Motherland, good health and personal happiness, and expresses confidence that the recipient will continue working toward the implementation of the decisions of the Communist Party.
The greeting is issued on behalf of three Soviet administrative / political bodies:
ПАРТІЙНИЙ КОМІТЕТ – Party Committee
РАЙВИКОНКОМ – District Executive Committee
ВИРОБНИЧЕ УПРАВЛІННЯ – Production Administration
A particularly interesting illustration inside symbolizes the transition from 1963 to 1964, showing an older bearded figure wearing “1963” pointing forward while a younger figure marked “1964” looks toward the future.
This is not an ordinary commercial New Year postcard, but an official personalized Soviet Ukrainian political / administrative greeting with strong Communist propaganda imagery.
