This is a 1965 portrait print of Ho Chi Minh issued during the Vietnam War period, dated 1965.
“HỒ CHỦ TỊCH” - “President Hồ” or “Chairman Hồ”
“Chủ tịch” was the formal revolutionary and state title used for Hồ Chí Minh in North Vietnam, meaning Chairman or President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
1965 is highly significant. It marks the year the Vietnam War dramatically escalated following large-scale American military intervention, including the arrival of major U.S. combat forces and the beginning of sustained bombing campaigns against North Vietnam under Operation Rolling Thunder. During this period, images of Hồ Chí Minh became central propaganda and patriotic symbols throughout North Vietnam.
This style of portrait was commonly distributed as an official state image for:
