Original Vintage 1983 The Awakening Raffles Bar Grill Restaurant Menu Dadeland Mall 7535 N Kendall Drive Miami Dade County Florida
Raffles opened at Dadeland Mall in 1979, started by a group of eight partners that included architect Dan Duckham and restaurateurs Dennis Max and Burt Rapoport. The 125-seat room was a fern bar in the T.G.I. Friday\'s mold, built around fresh food and live jazz from University of Miami students, with the musicians of Miami Sound Machine among those who played there. Its success carried Raffles Bar & Grill to nine locations in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee between 1979 and 1985 under Creative Restaurants, Inc., the company Max and Rapoport formed in 1982. Tired of the concept by 1983, the two sold their Raffles restaurants to their partner and left.
